Important note: Enrolment will be valid for up to 12 months.

Workforce Participants can be scheduled over a longer duration and in blocks of either 20 or 15 hours per week to meet an individual’s specific requirements. IEA participants can be scheduled either full-time or part-time study schedules to meet the individual’s specific requirements.

Recommended Local Entry Requirements:

• Are 16 years old at the time of placement (note: students under 18 will need permission from a parent or guardian to enrol)
• Have language, literacy and numeracy skills that ensure the ability to read and comprehend technical terms and communicate effectively through email
• Interpret textual information from a range of sources to identify relevant and key information to operate equipment, determine methods and rates for treatments
• These skills are equivalent to those that would be required to successfully complete Year 10 or ACSF Level 2
• Access to a modern computer with high-speed internet
• Access to Microsoft Office or equivalent
• Basic computing skills including the ability to make a short video
• This course includes a requirement to record video and/or audio roleplays. These will require participation by up to 3 other people sourced by you.

Physical Requirements:

Physical capability to safely perform tasks in an animal care environment (This may include lifting items weighing up to 10kg unassisted)

Resource requirements

• Regular access to a computer, tablet or smartphone (note: there may be activities in the course that need to be completed using a desktop computer rather than a tablet or smartphone)

• Basic to intermediate computer or digital device skills, including the ability to make a short video

• Tripod to provide a stable and secure platform to mount the digital recording device

• An email address and regular access to a modern computer with high-speed internet

• Access to Microsoft Office or equivalent

• PDF reader software (e.g., Adobe Acrobat) installed on a computer or the digital device being used to access the course

Additional Requirements:

• The ability and willingness to study online lesson material and complete all assessment requirements for each unit of competency
• The ability to communicate directly with Alffie in English
• The ability to understand and follow detailed instructions in English given verbally or in writing
• Obtain any relevant mandatory industry checks required for Work Placement
